Steve is the Chief Technology Officer at King, a role he has held since 2020. With over 30 years’ experience in entrepreneurship and leadership in the technology sector, Steve has been integral in the development and implementation of technology strategies in the worlds of venture capital, gaming technology companies and academia. In his role at King, Steve leads the implementation of King’s technology strategy and the management of the Shared Technology team which is responsible for the centralized products, platforms and services that King has created to build and operate its live mobile games. Steve is passionate about creating a collaborative and learning culture where curiosity and experimentation are embraced and where each member of the team can grow and contribute meaningfully to how we deliver great gaming experiences for our players around the world .
Before joining King, Steve was a partner at Frontline Ventures, a European VC Fund investing in technology start-ups, and prior to that was a founder and CTO of Havok, Kore and Swrve. Steve’s goals for 2023 are to drive King’s Cloud and Machine Learning strategies and to help the Technology organization at King adapt to new ways of working in a post-pandemic world. Outside of his role at King, Steve enjoys hiking with his wife and making noise with his collection of synthesizers.

Building a scalable infrastructure for games which serve hundreds of millions of people is tough. But with each new game requiring slightly different features building that scalable infrastructure multiple times becomes impossible.
